A few times a year, Zatu host a daily event ‘ZatuCon’ – a chance for gamers, family & friends to come together and play a series of games by visiting those who are demonstrating, alongside the opportunity to purchase a range of popular board games from Zatu’s shop, and the chance at winning prize/s from a raffle with a selection of goodies!
I travelled up from our quaint office in Kent to The Bedford, London, on the glorious August bank holiday morning for a day of demonstrating one of Devir’s latest releases, Red Carpet, a game in which you raise your camera in an attempt to snap the best shot of the celebrities walking up the Red Carpet, whilst interfering with your opposing photographers’ shots.
The doors opened, and it begun, a flurry of people all wishing to try their hand at playing a game. The first takers for Red Carpet were a group of four friends. Playing to win would put it lightly, there were many attempts at turning around chosen celebrities right at the opportune moment, forcing their opponents to photograph the back of someone’s head… definitely not an award-winning shot!
After four rounds of mayhem, new celebrity appearances, and moving up and down the Red Carpet, our paparazzi were finished, votes were counted and ‘star’ celebrities revealed. A clear winner was the ‘blue’ photographer who managed to beat the runner up by 20 points.
Multiple games of Red Carpet were played with families, couples and friends, although I cannot say they all remained so by the game end! A great time was had by all, and the awards ceremonies were fruitful with our paparazzi garnering the attention, and appeal for, front page newspapers!
Overall Zatucon was great fun for us and the people who came to play our games, we look forward to future Zatucons to showcase our latest games.
